ABOUT
Hi, I'm Yumi, the principal designer at YU+ME Design inc.
I grew up in Japan and have always had a curiosity about the world. In 2001, I moved to the U.S. to seek new experiences, and this journey has introduced me to incredible people and cultures along the way.
I started my career in the tourism industry, earning a degree in Hospitality Management in the U.S. and working in cities like Las Vegas, Seattle, and Vancouver. These experiences helped me develop a deep appreciation for design, and hospitality.
In 2008, when my U.S. visa expired, I made the decision to move to Vancouver, and I've called it home ever since. In 2009, I took on my first design project: transforming a basement suite into cozy apartments for students. I loved both the design development and renovation processes - the idea of bringing something to life sparked my passion for interior design.
I went on to study Interior Design at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and earned my Certificate in 2013. After working as a senior designer for a respected Danish company, I founded YU+ME Design Inc. in 2018.
Over 10 years, I have been focused on creating beautiful, functional spaces that reflect each client's personality as well as allowing them to feel comfort an ease in their homes. I'm proud of the relationships I've built with my clients and collaborators, and I'm always committed to high-quality design and craftsmanship.
In addition to my design expertise, I proudly hold a Senior Home Safety Specialist certification, dedicated to ensuring safe and secure environments for seniors.
