About Yumi Murayama

Born and raised in Japan, I've been shaped by the elegance of minimalist design and the profound peace that comes from thoughtfully curated spaces. When I moved to North America in 2001, I experienced firsthand the challenge of creating a sense of home in a new place while building a demanding career.

My journey in interior design began in 2009 when I started renovating single-family homes right here in Vancouver. My real education came through this hands-on experience, later working as a senior designer and stylist with a renowned Danish brand. This is where I learned what truly matters: successful professionals don't want to spend their precious free time researching furniture or second-guessing design choices. They want to come home to spaces that feel effortlessly beautiful and completely theirs.

This insight led me to establish YU+ME Design Inc. in 2018. I created a practice specifically for discerning clients who value exceptional design but prefer to invest their time in their careers, families, and passions—not in endless design decisions.
